La tormenta tropical Bret pasará cientos de kilómetros al sur de Puerto Rico este fin de semana, así que no existen vigilancias o avisos para las islas locales. Además, la tormenta se va a enfrentar a vientos cortantes que la debilitarán en los próximos días, por lo que no se espera que se convierta en huracán. Sin embargo, hay otra perturbación al este sureste de Bret, Invest 93L, que debería convertirse en la próxima tormenta durante los próximos días. Es probable que este sistema tenga una trayectoria más al norte, así que asegúrese de mantenerse actualizado con nosotros y con la información más reciente del Centro Nacional de Huracanes.

Por ahora, el tiempo en Puerto Rico será soleado, brumoso y cálido el jueves debido a una masa de aire seco con polvo sahariano, pero se deteriorará a medida que Bret pase al sur el viernes y durante el fin de semana. Habrá un aumento de nubosidad y aguaceros en la isla, junto con tronadas y condiciones marinas peligrosas en las aguas del Caribe. Advertencias de Calor Excesivo se mantendrán vigentes el jueves en el noroeste y centro-norte.

What you need to know, currently.

Tropical Storm Bret, the first named storm of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season to threaten land, is expected to pass through the Leeward Islands on Thursday, very close to Barbados.

Initially forecast to grow into the season’s first hurricane, Bret has struggled and should remain a mid-range tropical storm until it dissipates in a day or two in the Caribbean Sea. It should pose no severe threat to the islands besides the potential for some heavy rainfall.

This year’s list of storm names is a modified version of the same list used in 2005, 2011 and 2017. It’s one of the most notorious lists of the six lists in regular rotation with the names Dennis, Katrina, Rita, Stan, Wilma, Irene, Harvey, Irma, Maria, and Nate removed due to their outsized impact to protect the mental health of survivors.
